When my upcoming production of ANIMAL was looking for a stage manager, I recommended the lady above. Leslie Ann and I go back a few years. She staged managed several seasonal theatrical productions that took a modern/contemporary look at Christmas and Easter. Back in those days, I was responsible for a group of volunteers that did everything from acting, to lighting, sound, set design, you name it. It was a lot of work and Leslie Ann was there to keep my sanity in check and helped bring the productions to fruition. Despite the stress, we had lots of fun. The picture above sums up that fun. I’m grateful for the support and the willingness to step up and do the work. She will have a blast on ANIMAL.
Speaking of having fun and more support, the above photos is with our Assistant Director, Lucy Collingwood. Now that my job as writer is basically complete (I say basically because writing is never really complete) and our casting is finalized, these three ladies will be running the show behind the scenes with Evelyn Long leading the charge as director. This past weekend we had our first reading of ANIMAL with the cast. I was both thrilled and relieved to see this group come together and look forward to see them form a family unit. I will be introducing the cast with photos in my next blog. I now take a welcomed step back from ANIMAL and leave the business of getting the play on its feet in the capable hands of the director and her crew. It’s been a long haul getting ANIMAL to the stage, so I look forward to watching it come to life.
In the meantime, I have submitted the latest draft of ANIMAL to the following competition/theatre companies:
Hey Romeo – so great to see you and Leslie Ann coming together again as a team. I love Scott’s reference to Peaches and Herb’s “Reunited”. Takes me back. Anyway, with Leslie Ann’s fine assistance, the show is in good hands. All the best with the “craziness” this will likely entail, as happens with most productions. But there will be “excellence” in the final result, I’m sure. Looking forward to it!
Good luck folks!
REUNITED! I’ve always enjoyed working with you, Romeo, and so fortunate to come back as stage manager working with Evelyn and Lucy on ANIMAL at Alumnae Theatre. Thank YOU for allowing me to take part in this fabulous opportunity. Let the fun (and craziness!) begin!
Uh oh…I’m feeling a Peaches & Herb moment here…..
Reunited & it looks so good.
Reunited ’cause you 2 understood.
There’s one perfect fit
And, sugar, this one is it
We’re all so damn excited ’cause you’re reunited, hey, hey
Big CONGRATS on “Animal” ROMEO & for choosing an amazing Stage Manager. I pray & hope for a successful run, great reviews & a tight knit family of cast & crew. I will definitely be there to see it.
I’m doing a show up in collingwood in December so hopefully it doesn’t conflict with my show because if it does my director & producer will be really upset about me missing one of my shows hahahaha.
