8th Annual Kairos Prize in Screenwriting – Finalists

A day like today makes the struggle and doubt that go with writing all worth it.   I have just received word that my script Play Ball has now advanced in the Top 12 in the Kairos Prize for Screenwriting.  I was previously in the semi’s where 55 writers competed.   This is a competition that is run out of California.  I was the only foreigner on the list; the other 11 finalists are all from the States.   Below is the list of the 12 Finalists.  You can also check out the Kairos link.

I knew this was the week the results would come in so I’ve kept myself busy by working on my play CircusCircus is about mental illness.  It’s a play I wrote a couple years ago, has gone through 2 drafts already, but needs a significant re-write.   As I worked on Circus, I waited patiently (or not so patiently) for the Kairos results to be posted.   And finally, at 11pm – Friday night, the news broke and I let out a massive scream of joy and relief.

Awards are handed out on February 15 to the top 3 winners.   So….that means more waiting for the final round of judging.  But for right now, I will breathe this all in, enjoy the moment and as always hope for the very best.
