Extrovert/Introvert – Which Are You?

If there is one thing this current lock down has taught us is the kind of person we are when no one is looking.   What makes us tick?  Some people may be surprised to learn that I am,  generally speaking, an introvert.  Oh sure, I certainly have extrovert qualities.   But what people perceive you to be matters far less than what you actually feel on the inside.

On the inside and outside, I am struggling to remain focused on my writing as the world around us seemingly changes day by day.  And even though as an introvert and writer to boot, isolation is not that huge of a challenge, this moment obviously feels very, very different.  It certainly has been a challenging year with my mother’s health issues as well, but here we are.

Having said all that, I have just completed an entire outline for my next draft of ANIMAL (if anyone’s keeping count, it’s probably the 10th draft).   My screenplay LET IT SHINE is competing in a handful of competitions/festivals.  And I spent a week tweaking my screenplay BREAK AWAY, then sent it off to a couple more competitions.  I am eager to see what kind of results show up in the next few weeks.  Figures crossed.  Stay tuned.

Now let’s talk Extrovert/Introvert.  Which are you?  Tell me below in “Speak Your Mind”.

Are you never too shy (Extrovert), or are you the opposite and like to keep to yourself (Introvert)?  Respond below with one word.  No explanation needed.  Just one word.  Who do you bend more toward?  Extrovert or Introvert?  Peace.

Extrovert – I didn’t realize how much people energized me until I went from work that was primarily phone, email and researching/thinking to work that was in-person sales and very team focused, with constant social interaction in a retirement home. The difference in my energy levels between the two jobs was incredible! However when working there I craved alone time at night having spent all my energies on people during the day. All that to say, I am a bit of both.

  2. I can be an introvert even when with other people. I will internalize and go to my space where I don’t even hear what is being said by those I’m with. Usually it’s because I am processing what has been discussed. Sometimes that’s great because you can block things that are annoying. Sometimes a real handicap in social interactions. I like my time alone to read and reflect but I’ve been told I’m at my best when with other people.

    Just read…
If loneliness is “alone and sad”
Then “solitude” is “alone and happy”…
