After the reading, Pat hopes to have a clearer vision on the various themes of PLAY BALL. I will receive feedback from the reading which can be used for any re-writes. The focus will be to move this character driven piece about forgiveness and healing to a place where financiers will want to come on board and make the film. We’re hoping for big things in 2015!

As many of you can tell, my old website is no more and this is a temporary one. I will be launching a new website in the weeks to come.

A few updates for you:

– My play ANIMAL recently advanced in the Writemovies International Writing Competition. Writesmovies categories include all types of genres from screenplays, to plays, novels, poetry, etc… Check out the results here:
http://writemovies.com/wmc-37-quarter-finalist-results/

– ANIMAL has been sent to several competitions in the US including the following: Yale Drama Series, Playwrights First in New York and Hidden River Arts Playwrighting Competition. Results will be known in the spring.

– I’m also waiting to hear from the Chronos Prize in Screenwriting where my screenplay WHO IS MOLLY STEELE? is competing.

– I’ve been asked to write a 90 minute play for the Toronto Fringe Festival for early July 2015. I’ve begun to write ideas down and brainstorm themes, characters, locations, etc… I don’t find this particular part of writing much fun as my brain goes off in so many different directions and ideas that I find it difficult to make sense of anything……but I guess that’s why it’s called brainstorming.

– One of the songs I wrote from last month’s production of THIRSTY was entered into a song-writing competition. The music was composed by James MacKnight and you can check out a video of the song here:

Stay tuned for further updates and a whole new website. That’s all for now. And if there is anyone out there thinking of writing, but feels the fear every time they face the blank page…take solace in these words:

ONE OF THE BIGGEST, MOST EMPOWERING MILESTONES IN A WRITER’S LIFE IS WHEN THEY LEARN TO BECOME LESS PRECIOUS, AND START TO THROW AWAY AND DELETE MORE EASILY. PRODUCING MORE WORK, LESS JUDGMENTALLY, ENABLES YOU TO BE LESS PRECIOUS, AND MAKE FAST, RUTHLESS, SURGICAL DECISIONS THAT INSTANTLY MAKE YOUR WORK BETTER.
