Who Knows What the Tide Could Bring?

Don’t give up if you’re tired of fighting Covid.

Don’t give up wearing a mask, washing you hands and socially distancing.

Don’t give up if you lost a loved one.

Don’t give up if you’re depressed, anxious or scared.

Don’t give up if you’re battling chronic pain.

Don’t give up if you work in hospitals or nursing homes.

Don’t give up if you’re stuck at home.

Don’t give up if you haven’t seen your parents for a long time.

Don’t give up if you miss your friends.

Don’t give up if you’re alone, single, separated or divorced.

Don’t give up if you’re sick and tired of another ZOOM call.

Don’t give up if you began exercising this year.

Don’t give up on looking for a new job, a career change, your passions.

Don’t give up on your future.

Don’t give up on your new diet.

Don’t give up on live theater, cinema, sports, schools, restaurants and churches.

Don’t give up on your kids, spouse or partner.

Don’t give up on your smile.

Don’t give up on being a kind, patient and understanding human being.

Don’t give up on doing the right thing.

Don’t give up when you’ve tried and tried and keep failing.

Don’t give up on writing (thanks, I needed that one).

Don’t give up on hope because tomorrow the sun will rise and who knows what the tide could bring.

Now take a moment wherever you are and if you can shut out the chaos around you, watch this short clip from the film CAST AWAY.  Turn up the volume as it’s a quiet scene.  Tom Hank’s character is the sole survivor of a plane crash and gets stuck on an island.  Years later he is rescued and when he returns home, he discovers the love of his life is married to a new man.   Listen to his poignant, heart breaking monologue about the rising sun and what the tide could bring….

  1. Karen L Coles says

We never know what is around the corner but three things I am certain about – God is with me, He wants the best for me, and whatever it is, it is not a surprise to Him. That encourages me. Thanks for this – I don’t think I have seen the movie, and will look into finding it so I can see the whole movie. Keep the ink in your pen flowing!!!
